2023. Callis, A. Impact of moral injury on nurse work performance following the COVID-19 surges [Podium presentation]. 27th Sigma SoCal Odyssey Research Conference, San Diego, CA.
Annette Nicorvo Callis writes historical fiction that brings to life compelling characters who wrestle with loyalty, moral duty, and one’s own conscience. Her debut novel, New Morning Sun, is set amidst the little-known history of German Army prisoners of war brought to the United States and confined in hundreds of camps during World War II.
A doctorally prepared nurse scholar and professor emeritus at Vanguard University of Southern California, she has long-standing experience caring for the critically ill. She has published several research studies on moral distress and moral injury in nurses. Her passion for nursing informs her interest in the human consequences of war, allegiance, and the difficult work of healing.
